Dates and Itinerary Published for Enviros Leachate Safari

Dates and a full Provisional itinerary are now available from the Enviros Safari Blog Site, here. 

The two day Safari will be held on Wednesday 27 June and Thursday 28 June 2007.

The itinerary, which is subject to site operator confirmation, is summarised as follows:

DAY 1 – From Reed Beds for Treatment of Leachate Contaminated Groundwater to a Large “Design and Build” Leachate Treatment Plant

Pick ups from Birmingham Station and Birmingham Airport Car Park

Morning:

  • Visit Midlands Leachate Reed Bed Treatment Plant (Site 1)

(Lunch: Sandwiches supplied en-route)

Afternoon:

  • Visit a sophisticated Humberside Leachate Treatment Plant (Site 2)
  • Visit an operating Leachate Methane Stripping Plant (Site 3)
  • Visit a Leachate Treatment Plant in Lancashire (Site 4)

Evening Meal in historic Shrewsbury town restaurant (included in cost), meet and talk.

Overnight: Hotel in Shrewsbury, Shropshire Shrewsbury Sleep Inn Hotel (Pre-booked by Enviros when you register) and check-in (Each delegate pays for own accommodation on arrival.)

DAY 2 - From the Smallest Leachate Treatment Plant Operating (a Wheely bin - Trial!) to the Biggest/Highest Contaminant Loading UK Leachate Treatment Plant

Morning:

  • View a current Leachate Treatability Trial in progress.
  • View a Leachate (Nitrification) Treatment Plant in North Wales (Site 5)
  • View a small Leachate Treatment Plant (Site 6) (plus a possible additional Leachate Treatment Plant visit - if time permits)

(Lunch: Sandwiches supplied en-route)

Afternoon: 

  • Visit a large Merseyside Leachate Treatment Plant - the Biggest/Highest Contaminant Loading UK Leachate Treatment Plant (Site 7)

After the Merseyside visit we will return to Birmingham Airport Car Park and also provide a Drop Off at Birmingham International Railway Station.

Please do register EARLY, to avoid disappointment. The Safari is being extensively advertised and spaces are limited to just one coach.
